Stefan Govers (TU/e): winner of the NVVT Grant 2020 

Stefan Govers has become the winner of the NVVT Grant to participate in the ETCC congress in Krakow September 2-4, 2020. His contribution: ‘Surface segregation of silicon-containing block copolymers in coatings’ has been selected out of the submitted abstracts by the NVVT selection committee. Stefan is a PhD student at the Laboratorium of Physical Chemistry, Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven. Co-authors are Prof dr Bert de With and Ass Prof Catarina Esteves.
In general the selection committee was very pleased with the overall quality of the submitted abstracts and the research approaches behind the different topics. 

The grant
The FATIPEC board wishes to stimulate the participation of young scientists from the whole of Europe. To this purpose it has been decided to sponsor the participation of one young scientist per country. The grant will cover: congress fee, travel costs and the costs of hotel and food. In return the applicant is asked to present a poster or a paper during the congress.
Next to that the ETCC congress committee has been decided that there will be an award for the best performing / most attractive young scientist contributions during the congress. The award will be a price of Euro 1000. 

Selection process and criteria
The selection process for this grant in the Netherlands has been executed under the responsibility of the board of the NVVT. To this purpose a selection committee had been installed consisting of 3 board members and the Dutch representative of the FATIPEC European Scientific Committee (ESC).
The selection committee has ranked the submitted abstracts according to the following selection criteria:

  • originality of the subject (20%)
  • level of scientific excellence (30%)
  • creativity of the approach and (30%)
  • relevance for the coatings industry (20%)
